...owie?

I'm sorry to say buddy, but this doesn't really sound like inspiration to be, more like a hint of innovation.
The song it's self reminds me of some kindof strange chibi anime, but let's cut to the chase.
Now I'm all for songs without beats, but I'm never for songs with poor mastering (it happens to the best of us)
The initial double layered square was decent, didn't hurt the ears that much, but at 00:24 when that dry flanged saw kicked in, it made me want to skip ahead a few minutes, then that pluck at 00:40 added an insane amount of high frequencies, enough to hurt almost.
The flute kicks in, which, doesn't really make it that better seeing as the background instruments are loud, unappealing, and extremely repetitive. You should definitely EQ this, that pluck has wayyy to much reverb/release in it to sound nice.
The song in it's self disregarding the mastering criticism-
Toooooooo repetitive, you need to loosen up the strict pattern this song follows, go from a major to a minor, or god even throw a Neapolitan in there.
Over all if you work long, and hard, you will discover a talent that will surely impress your long distance girlfriend a million times more than this one could.
Good luck :)

I'm thinking that you and I simply have a different taste in music.
I checked out your music, which sounds more like music for sale or for a large audience, while my music is meant more as a background or sort of meditative reflection.
I don't know if that makes sense, but I guess what I'm saying is to each his own, yeah?
P.S. The mastering, I'll take that in account, but I think that it may have something to do with the way you are listening (headphones/no headphones)
Thanks for the review

I know this is kindof a wierd thing to say reguarding 8bit songs, but this should be EQ'd a tiny tiny bit better.
But still, it's an amazing song to listen to while reading the story. Good job! :D

You mean the panning or the volume? (pm me if you want)

Thanks.

Hey!

I hear some beats, and synths I'm far too familiar with. Try to work your way with the synths, learn how to use them, create sounds from scratch, instead of using presets.
The biggest downside to FL Studio is it's preloaded samples are quite overused, try to use samples other than the preloaded FL Samples (If I'm mistaken then it's VEC, which is okay, but still overused)
When making a song that's 5 minutes long, it's kindof harsh when you have the same bass drum, beats, snares.
The song in it's self, disregarding the criticism, is a pretty neato progression from 2:10 to 2:50 you should really have some supporting sounds up in there to lower the repetition and add to the progression.
I was intrigued at 4:27, this is when the song (though distorted and a high amount of improvement needed) reached a sort of, nice, climax.
All in all this song is mediocre, but I do see some potential in it.
Check out my tracks too! 5/10 3/5

Excellent advice! Exactly what I'm looking for in a review. I will listen to some of your music. Thanks for reviewing.

Wow

This is quite different, always getting better you know.
Your songs always give me eargasms!
Thanks for coming back dude!

Karco responds:

Glad you liked it; thanks for the review.

This made it

I am certainly starting to become a fan of yours. Your composition kicks ass, I do notice that you use quite a bit of Nexus synths without editing them though.
This song starts to taste like owl city at 4:02, I think it's that sliding square, I mean it in a good way though.
You got those hihats rockin' man!
This song definitely shows some potential for you in the way of composition, you could create a trance symphony! :D

FunkmasterCatking responds:

WICKED SICK!

I really have been overusing Nexus for quite a while now, it's just got some awesome sounds and I can't help myself, xD

I have gotten some new stuff since this song though so hopefully my songs will start to sound a little less "nexusey".

Thanks for the review!

Goodness Gracious!

This song is absolutely beautiful. I listened to it once, gave it a 5, then another time I pulled it up I tried to give it a 5 again because I was so enthralled by how mysterious this tune is.
There are a few flaws like the bass drum being a little too fat, or some compression issues; BUT! all of those problems are drowned out by everything about this song that makes it perfect, so that's why you get a 10/10.
GOOD JOB! :D

FunkmasterCatking responds:

Wow man, that means a lot, thanks!

NOW LET US DANCE THE DANCE OF FRIENDSHIP.

Old times

Everybody misses the old times good friend, I have a couple of songs contributing to those old times.

I have lyrics to the next song I'm going to write.

-----
I've left all aside
so I could reside
The feeling that I can't keep inside
I've never known so much could happen one day
to decide I'd rather return to dismay
just to
feel
alive
Aghast that all hell's nostalgia passed by when I
shot, the gun, in the air
Remembering the feel that girls finger's
running through my hair
And understanding that the swingers
take double dares
And finding my inner self
To be quite unfair

To be quite unfair

I sat on the porch
wondering why
I felt like I couldn't sigh when
I realized my lung were filled
With precious smoke
That eventually kills
With every stroke

with every stroke
With every stroke
With every stroke

I felt alive for just one time
I realized all my feelings were mimed
When I reminisced my presence at least in her mind
I captured her stare
With a swift breath of air
And I felt alive for just one time
just for one time
just for one time
----

^- There ya go mate.
Anyways, I (fucking) love this tune man. I'm curious how to make that phase distortion kindof thing you do, hit me up.
Also, check my stuff out.
5/5 + 10/10 + Fav'd

Requiem

A poem for your loss, it's always tragic...
This song is an amazing tribute though.
----
Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free,
I'm following the path God laid for me.
I took his hand when I heard his call,
I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work, to play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way,
I've found that peace at the end of the day.

If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Ah, yes, these things too I will miss.

Be not burdened with times of sorrow,
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My Life's been full, I savoured much,
Good friends, good times, a loved one' touch.

Perhaps my time seemed all too brief,
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me,
God wanted me now, He set me free.

TommyUlysesGrant responds:

*sniff* Thank you so much ... your words are so pure, so right,

I Wish you all the best my freind :)

HAHAHA

I'm not fat!!!! :|
I seriously thought that someone from school submitted this after my submission XD

fizzypop2 responds:

Well it is based on someone in my school. XD
I'm glad you liked it =]

Review

The composition and over all idea, tune of the song is quite catchy, but the song is so thin that I could touch it's spine through it's stomach.
I like the tune, but It's uncomfortable to listen to. At about 00:50 is probably the moment I like the most, mainly because the bass had a fatter sound.
The percussion is great, that ride cymbal played a little too much though, it could be a little bit quieter.
Composition is Top Notch, it goes from Dangerous, to Distressful, to Sad.
Over all it's definitely satisfactory.
I did enjoy listening to it, with a little shiftiness, but it has rounded up to a good song.

Marks-a-lot responds:

Thanks for the input, and I do understand what you mean. Right now I am really working on my soundscapes and on the depth of my songs and I can tell that it isn't a "full" track. My next song will be better though. I am not going to submit another song till I can get this right. Thanks again for the input :)

I'm a music hobbyist, or is it professional? Who knows?
